How KDOI Protects Insurance Policyholders
If you’ve been noticing newspaper articles and other information about private credit markets and the shadow banking system, you’re not alone. Such articles are starting to appear frequently, and the overall situation is evolving rapidly and gaining attention. It is only recently that private credit - which is part of the shadow banking system and an unregulated part of the financial markets - has been allowed into the general accounts of major life insurance companies.
In this presentation Tish Becker, Director of Financial Surveillance at the Kansas Department of Insurance, will discuss insurers’ investment in private credit and how insurance regulators assess the risk.

About the Presenter
Tish Becker
Tish Becker joined the Accident and Health Division (n/k/a the Rate and Form Compliance Division) of the Kansas Department of Insurance in September of 1996. She subsequently joined the Financial Surveillance Division in 1997 and has held various positions within the division. She was promoted to Director of Financial Surveillance in 2019.
Prior to joining the Department, Tish worked in retail and banking. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration majoring in accounting and finance from Kansas State University.
