Crypto, Blockchain, Why it Matters, and Things to Know as a Financial Professional

Are more and more of your clients asking about bitcoin? What things should you as an insurance professional know about cryptocurrency? Does it matter?

This presentation aims to provide the insurance advisor with a guide to crypto and blockchain: what they are, what they are not, and where they might go from here. We want you to walk away confident in your understanding and armed with information to decide how to best position yourself for what lies ahead.

This program will cover:  

• Introduction to blockchain, bitcoin, altcoins and ethereum-based tokens
• Mining: what, how, why
• Understanding where blockchain may fit in
• Investing in crypto or blockchain
• Should crypto be in clients’ portfolios?

Safety Protocol

During our event, we will observe safety guidelines and ensure social distancing protocols for seating and networking spaces. Tables will be placed 6’ apart and the wait staff will be wearing masks. Lunches will be plated in the kitchen and served individually.

Presenter
W. Phil Ratcliff

Phil Ratcliff is a Certified Financial Planner Professional (CFP) and the founder of rebel Financial, a financial firm that he started in 2013 that has grown into one of the largest Fee-Only RIAs in the Midwest and fastest organically growing in the country. Phil’s hard work, charisma, and true passion for his business has helped him build rebel from the ground up with the unique objective (at least in the financial world) to put “people before profits.” He specializes in advanced planning.
 
Previously, Phil attended USMA at West Point and served in the United States Army for eight years before settling down into finance in 2003 at American Express Financial Advisors. Phil is an active member in the Financial Planning Association, NAPFA, and NorthStar BNI as well as serving on numerous boards of directors and running two non-profits. Phil has an extensive background with his Bachelors in History, studies towards his MBA, professional certifications (AIF®, ChFC®, CFP®, and CLU®), voracious reading appetite, and his enthusiasm for mastering new technology.
